Whether you want to exchange vows with the city skyline or Brisbane River as your backdrop or prefer the intimate atmosphere of an outdoor wedding, the suburbs offer stunning ceremony and reception venues. These include The Lussh, The Refinery and more.
Located on Light St in Fortitude Valley, this edgy warehouse blends heritage industrial with purpose-built design features. It also offers a flexible layout. Here are some of the best wedding venues besides The Brisbane Club.
The Lussh
Located in the heart of Woolloongabba, this beautifully renovated warehouse space has a seriously wow factor. The 100 year old heritage listed building features exposed brick, polished concrete floors and lofty 4-meter ceilings – all offset by feature glazing that opens up to an outdoor garden framed by cliff walls and lush date palms. It’s the perfect backdrop for wedding ceremonies, relaxed cocktail hours and long sit-down dinners.
This luscious, romantic and chic urban styled shoot was captured by the talented team at Todd Hunter McGraw and Mitch Birchall Studios. They brought to life the dreamy vision of our bride and groom using a colour palette of pinks and neutrals to create an overall feel of elegance, romance and luxury. From the stunning flat lays with ribbons and ring boxes from The Whole Bride to the epic 4 tiered cake by Hansel and Gretel this incredible team made every detail of this day look amazing!
Located in the heart of Woolloongabba, The Lussh is a newly established wedding venue that is becoming quite popular. Its industrial interior is perfect for events of any size and the outside area features a natural rock wall and a shady garden perfect for afternoon wedding ceremonies or a cocktail hour.
The Refinery
The Refinery is a gorgeously renovated warehouse in Newstead that was specifically designed to host magical weddings and special events. Located on Austin St, this warehouse has both a private garden and indoor space to hold your ceremony and reception in the one spot. The Refinery is run by the team behind Rogue Bar and Bistro, so you know the food will be good!
Chloe and Zander got ready in the green room out back and I loved that they could still hang out with their guests and watch them get glammed up. After a beautiful ceremony (with a few Friends references sprinkled in) and an epic confetti toss, they were off to celebrate with everyone!
As a Brisbane wedding photographer, I love the opportunity to capture a couple’s special day. And this was no exception! Every detail was so thoughtfully curated, creating a celebration that was both elegant and deeply personal. This is what makes The Refinery such a great wedding venue for couples who are looking for something a little bit different.
Old Government House
The Old Government House is a beautiful heritage wedding venue in Brisbane. Located on the QUT Gardens Point campus next to the City Botanic Garden, it offers plenty of photo opportunities and a fabulous building for a ceremony.
The venue features Palladian columns and sandstone walls, making it the perfect backdrop for your photos. It also has a lovely walled courtyard where you can have your drinks and snacks before your reception.
Its grand staircase and hand-crafted champagne Swarovski crystal chandelier are awe-inspiring. A $15 million restoration has preserved the building’s historical integrity and created luxurious interiors. Unlike other hotel wedding venues, Old Government House doesn’t have in-house catering services and allows you to choose your preferred caterers.
If you’re looking for a modern wedding venue, Clear Mountain Lodge is a great choice. Its Wedding Pavillion was designed specifically for magical sparks to fly as you say “I do.” The venue can accommodate both your reception and ceremony. It also provides a range of wedding packages to suit your budget. A dedicated event coordinator will work with you to plan your wedding and ensure everything goes according to the planned schedule. In addition, you’ll get a gourmet meal and wedding night accommodation.
Riverlife
If you are looking for a Brisbane wedding venue with amazing views and a relaxed vibe Riverlife is the one for you. Located under the Kangaroo Point cliffs this venue has a range of marquees and event spaces that can be used for a relaxed wedding reception. The biggest is the riverfront deck which seats 110 people and has stunning Brisbane city skyline views. There is also the sunset marquee which can seat a little more and has great river views.
Both of these areas have a beautiful view and can be used for a ceremony space or as a wet weather option. The main dining area can be styled to suit your wedding theme. White couches, ottomans, high bars and large outdoor furniture will look fabulous in this room along with a large oak dance floor. The open space also gives you a chance to have plenty of green hanging installations and floral arrangements.
The location of Riverlife really shines once the sun goes down and the city lights are reflected on the Brisbane river. It is a gorgeous backdrop for some lovely evening photography. The nearby natural bushland, riverside walkways and granite cliffs provide plenty of other photographic locations too.
